The steamboat Thor has its home port adjacent to Kronoberg castle ruins. During the summer, Lake Helgasjön is served by the steamboat Thor, which was built in 1887 at Bergsunds Mekaniska Verkstad in Stockholm. In the same year the steam yacht was built, Sweden’s southernmost lock at Åby was also completed.

Here you are welcome to go through Sweden’s southernmost lock in Åby, or enjoy a boat trip aboard the steamboat Thor while learning more about the boat, the lake and Kronoberg castle ruins. The tours depart from Kronoberg castle ruins.

Along a three kilometer winding forest road you will be able to experience the king of the forest and American bison at very close range.
